sneakpeak
This little collection is only really an interlude, marking time before the appearance of the seemingly permanently in progress "Adventures in Cities", a collection of poems about... Cities! There's a surprise. Or, more accurately, an imaginary city. Here are some little glimpses of that work in progress (Picked entirely at random (by drinking beer, closing my eyes and clicking on a random file in a folder full of disorganisation)):
The fantasy of clock striking, ants Milling the grain from the sacks In the pantry. The fantasy of doors - Closing or chasms - yawning to greet The morning. The dreams of awaking, Re-awaking, shrouded all surrounded
A roar of an engine and the dog yaps through the walls Sitting reading, or putting the book aside Taking up a needle, mending, embroidering In a small shaft of moving air where The window is open and outside girl's clothes Move a little. This week's readings lying in a heap This week's lecture notes forgotten on the heap A few staves in rushed notation. An empty case An instrument with the cleaning rag stuffed Half inside the setting sun sets all in amber And the lamp comes on to light the words
It crashed into the water. Boardwalk, dimensions hurt, crawling up a cable immortalised before As experienced in pixel A tree does not a boulevard make An accent that causes One thousand misheard words Calling to voiceless stones Who won't tell tales, wont tell, can't be told.
Three bridges side by side More than a dozen apellidos between them More than half a dozen religions A golden sovriegn or a twisted bicycle Winks from beneath the water Antimony, sage, lethargy, passing flyers out Photocopied or glossy self confident And couched in awkward prose Bad translations - This place is rife with them
