Australian Daisies

Australian Daisies

Summer came, and with it the
unspokenof shade grew faint.
Still, with a whisper, he lead me to
hear,
And taught the lore, of Australian
Daisies -
Of the stem descending through the
inflorescence,
Of ray florets turned toward the
ground.
“They're very rare here, in England,
Though in Australia, of course, the
converse.”
Later, as the shade failed,
I refined the technique, pinching of
the stem completely
And turning it around, pushing it
back through, upside-down,
Using the trick as jest for girls,
And the girl I've jested laughs
As I make for her another chain, of
Australian Daisies
