Pilgrim's Progress
I — Airport
It all goes smooth today,
Starts off in departures
And I've time to watch,
While relacing my shoes,
The staff ogle the nun
Beneath her habit.
The new machines you see,
That can strip you naked,
At last have arrived
And the sister has said,
It's the rule so I will
Kindly acquiesce.
II — Flight
Over the Atlantic
A Bethlehem star shines
Glinting on the wing
At forty thousand feet.
All of us here are glad
We've been seen naked.
No one has brought with them
Nail clippers, knitting
Needles, handcream, nor
Deodorising spray.
Quite soon I'll have crossed to
The world's other side.
III — London
And here everybody,
Everyday, each minute
Has a Vaselined
Lens soft focused on skin,
Whether blemished, fake tanned
Or alcohol blotched,
So there are no stabbings
Nor any petty crimes,
No rapes at nighttime.
Being watched is their form
Of religion and I'll
Move to their rhythm.
